Over the weeks we have been putting together an electronics lab which is a section of the main shed at the football club.
It started with a partition wall using the original roofing sheets supplied with the shed. George brought in some old kitchen cupboards and then we began kitting it out.
We now have our own oscilloscope, bench power supply, waveform generator, component checker, raspberry pie, arduino and a host of components.

The Evil Genius series has some great ideas, unfortunately the books are a bit expensive. However, some evil genius has put several of them online as pdf’s. I am not condoning this, if I had the money I would buy them all. I have bought a few but as the few I have bought were after reading the pdf I think we are not doing the authors a dis–service, on the contrary we are promoting their books. I have also just found out that some of these books are in the Library system. So enough of me assuaging my guilt lets get on with the links. I hope you feel inspired and if you live in the area you will come along and share your enthusiasm.
Carol and her team of textile aficionados have been incredible busy making Dog Blankets which will be donated to local Dog Charities.

So what is physical computing? Physical computing, in the broadest sense, means building interactive physical systems by the use of software and hardware that can sense and respond to the analog world. In practical use, the term most often describes handmade art, design or DIY hobby projects that use sensors and micro-controllers to translate analog input to a software system, and/or control electro-mechanical devices such as motors, servos, lighting or other hardware.
Prototyping will be the beginning using the Arduino micro-controller connected to a computer this combines the two practical disciplines of electronics and programming. It is a wonder what can be achieved with recycled wood this is one members masterpiece. Built a wood store for their home.
Well done Carol a really great job! Those log ends make really nice coffee table tops.
After an ex-sign-writer member built a rather excellent layout table it was decided that what we really needed was a woodwork bench, so it was adapted to a three sides workbench by adding extra timber from an old plank and lowered the legs. Someone found an old vice and this was fitted. The bench can be seen in the photo along with the first project for chicken roosting bars. Every thing was made from recycled wood.
The construction method are self explanatory but if you need more details come down to the shed and meet the gang.
This project was to stop the howling wind and rain coming in from the back of the shed. The back of the shed was another roller-shutter door that had come of its tracks and was leaving us exposed to the elements again. We consider several options, the main one was to build a stud wall in font of the shutter similar to the way we dealt with the front of the shed see here However it was felt that it would be subject to vandalism so it was thought ‘lets build it on the inside’. The problem with this was that there would still be rain blown in from the sides and would damage the rockwool insulation. The solution was clear when we found some old linoleum which we cut into strips an tacked this up over the gaps and then we could safely add the insulation.
Making sure I get Mike’s best side. By the way Mike spirit-levels do not work well when all you do is lean it against the wall.
We then just needed to clad it using the reclaimed feather edge board and now nice and cosy.

Initially our Ty Hapus Shed was a large garage with a roller shutter at each end, which was nice and secure but when we were inside, the roller shutter had to be up leaving us exposed to the elements so it was proposed that we build a wall just behind the front shutter which would act as a barrier to the wind and rain and still allow easy access, the shutter could still be closed at night for security.
